Shakespeare Cedar Canyon Premier Fly Reel

The Shakespeare Cedar Canyon Premier fly reel with all the drag and strength you need. A lightweight, durable, and high performance fly reel with sizes for fresh or salt water

DETAILS

The Shakespeare Cedar Canyon Premier fly reel comes in a choice of two sizes:

A 3.75" diameter reel for AFTM 5 - 6 fly lines (plus backing line)
A 4.00" diameter reel for AFTM 7 - 8 fly lines (plus backing line)

#5-6 Weight: 134g
#7-8 Weight: 144g

These are both about 1.5" wide and have a nicely adjustable and refined disc drag which can be changed over for left or right hand winding.

CONSTRUCTION

These fly reels have a strong but lightweight composite reel body and spool with an open frame design for extra weight saving. The oiled felt disc drag is smooth and responsive and and the one way release means winding in is free and silent.

OUR OPINION

These are nice fly reels. Quite a bit lighter than the other two Cedar Canyon fly reels and with a more traditional look and feel.

The quick release push tab on the reel allows for spools to be changed quickly while still holding the spool on securely.

As far as I know, The 'Saltwater' indication on the 7/8 reel is purely a guide to the reel's line capacity rather than anything to do with it being a sealed disc drag or easily servicable after use in saltwater conditions.

All in all, a nice, well made, decent quality fly reel with a good look and feel at a reasonable price.
