Built on the modern and durable Cedar Canyon Click frame, the Cedar Canyon Disc fly reel takes performance to the next level with a robust Disc Drag system. With the maintenance-free Rulon drag, the Cedar Canyon Disc fly reel is ready to battle those big fish on long runs!

DETAILS

The Shakespeare Cedar Canyon Disc fly reel comes in a choice of three sizes:

A 3.375" diameter reel for AFTM 3 - 4 fly lines (plus backing line)
A 3.750" diameter reel for AFTM 5 - 6 fly lines (plus backing line)
A 4.000" diameter reel for AFTM 7 - 8 fly lines (plus backing line)

#3-4 Weight: 156g
#5-6 Weight: 162g
#7-8 Weight: 181g

These are all about 1.5" wide and have a nicely adjustable and refined disc drag which can be easily changed over for left or right hand winding.

CONSTRUCTION

These fly reels have a strong but lightweight composite reel body and spool with an enclosed frame design for extra strength. The closed cage design lets the line run freely and prevents it getting trapped while the click drag system is enough to prevent line overrun from the spool.

OUR OPINION

These Cedar Canyon Disc fly reels, like the Cedar Canyon click reels, are good looking and great value for money. They have a smooth textured finish and the spool cutaways have an attractive modern design. The nicely milled screw down spool fixing gives a more reliable connection than the old lever or push button designs and is a good sign of how Shakespeare continues to improve it's products.

The reels have a nice finish to them and the manufacturing tolerances look pretty good with no large variances and nice even gaps that are unlikely to catch and damage your fly line.

If you want a low cost large arbor fly reel with a proper disc drag system then these are a great choice.
