OUR OPINION

Copolymer is the perfect material for fishing small flies and dries on rivers. It's very soft and supple so won't present the fly at odd angles like stiffer material can and being less dense than fluorocarbon it won't drag the flies under water.

Fulling Mill Xtra Copolymer is one of the best tippet materials on the market for small flies and dry flies in particular. If you don't like the thickness and stiffness of fluorocarbon then try some of this stuff. It's almost the exact opposite. Thinner, softer and less likely to drag the flies under.

I had a poor start with the original spool but, now I wouldn't be without it. You need to work your knots into place using water from the river, stream or lake, I find saliva is too slippery. Pulling knots tight before they are worked into position has been my downfall it distorts the line and weakened the knot. Now on my third spool.

Handy spool, can become brittle if the knot is welll lubricated before pulling tight. I have applied Fulling Mill Fishing Superglue to the knot and have found on a few occassions that this can fail. Although I wipe the knot after tying and tightening, I guess saliva is still present interfering with the glue.
