Product Description

Cortland superfine, gel spun, backing line (previously knows as Cortland 'Micronite'). Finer, smoother and with less drag than other backing lines. The best backing line there is.

Cortland Gel Spun backing (Micronite) is commonly referred to as 'gel spun' backing. This method of manufacturing creates super strong, ultra fine fibres and results in a very thin and strong backing line that lets you load lots of backing onto your fly reel without taking up so much space.

The Diameter of this 30lb backing is just 0.30mm Vs 0.48mm for regular Cortland Micron. As the volume is related to the diameter squared this means we can fit around 2.5x more gel spun backing in the same space of reel.

Available in 300yd spools in White and high vis Yellow.

OUR OPINION

Cortland Gel Spun is great quality, superfine backing line.

It's great stuff for playing fish from the reel and is the best option when fishing for large, fast running saltwater fish like barracuda where you need all the backing line you can squeeze onto the reel.

Also great for where you only have a little space for backing on a fly reel which micht be a little undersized for the size of fly line you have on it.
