Blackridge Leader Loops

A pack of three good quality, clear braided leader loops from Jarvis Walker. These braided leader loops have a nice open loop to them. Slightly more fiddly to put on than some others as the rubber sleeves are not pre-loaded onto the loops.

MANUFACTURERS DESCRIPTION

Blackridge Braided Leader Loops
Instructions*

1. Push the end of the fly line into the open braid at the butt of the leader loop and thread it up as far as it will go.

2. Take a short length of mono and thread it through the actual leader loop.

3. Thread a quick-joint sleeve on to the mono and slide it on over the leader loop (the length of mono can now be removed from the loop).

4. Run the sleeve all the way along to where the fly line enters the leader loop and ease it over the connection so that the end of the braid is mid-way under the sleeve,

* The back of the pack has detailed diagrams to help explain the instructions.
Made in UK.

OUR OPINION

Leader loops are a great way to add a loop to the end of a fly line. The way they're fixed means the harder they're pulled the stronger the braid grips the line.

They can be a bit fiddly the first time you put them on. After that it's really quite simple. A tip is to push the braid over the fly line a bit at a time as pushing the braid makes it expand so the line can slide in more easily.

Adding a small drop of superglue at the end of the braid just before sliding the rubber sleeve over provides a little extra security.

Having to slide the rubber sleeve over the loops is a fiddly job. Some other suppliers pre-load the sleeves onto the loops which makes life easier.
