The glass fiber construction gives them a soft action that it is easy to cast and forgiving of timing errors. Being glass fiber they weigh about 20% more than an equivalent carbon fiber rod so we wouldn't recommend them for youngsters (see the Ideal XL rods instead). These rods are nicely finished with a half wells cork handle, anodised screw reel seat and stainless steel intermediate snake rings. They come in a handy cloth bag to help keep them clean and tidy. These are all now the new John Wilson Prime Fly Rods Introduced in 2006.
